Resumo
Com o objetivo de valorizar o método psicanalítico, esta tese apresenta a história da criação da Psicanálise, desde o período pré-psicanalítico até o surgimento da associação livre, isto é, o método interpretativo. Foram abordadas as técnicas que precederam e serviram de suporte para a criação do método psicanalítico, como a sugestão hipnótica, o método catártico, inclusive quando catarse foi tentada por meio da técnica da pressão na testa. Quais os ganhos proporcionados por essas técnicas e as razões que levaram ao seu abandono definitivo, também é assunto desta tese. Além disso, são apresentados fatos históricos e dados biográficos de Freud, que contribuem para a compreensão do contexto histórico-cultural em que surgiu a Psicanálise. O esforço em recuperar essa história atende ao propósito de dar visibilidade ao nexo entre o percurso exemplar de Freud na criação da Psicanálise e o método psicanalítico, de maneira que o estudo dessa história pode indiretamente ensinar sobre a prática da Psicanálise, ainda hoje.
With the objective of valuing the psychoanalytic method, this thesis presents the history of the creation of Psychoanalysis, from the pre-psychoanalytic period until the emergence of free association, that is, the interpretive method. Techniques that preceded and served as support for the creation of the psychoanalytic method were discussed, such as hypnotic suggestion, the cathartic method, even when catharsis was attempted through the technique of forehead pressure. What are the gains provided by these techniques and the reasons that led to their definitive abandonment, is also the subject of this thesis. Furthermore, historical facts and Freud's biographical data are presented, which contribute to the understanding of the historical-cultural context in which Psychoanalysis emerged. The effort to recover this history serves the purpose of giving visibility to the nexus between Freud's exemplary path in the creation of Psychoanalysis and the psychoanalytic method, in a way that the study of this history can indirectly teach about the practice of Psychoanalysis, even today.
