Impacto das restrições de atendimento odontológico aos pacientes de instituição pública de ensino durante a pandemia

Resumo
Com o início da pandemia de Covid-19, tornou-se necessário adotar
medidas de enfrentamento à disseminação do vírus. Entre elas, destacou-se a
suspensão do atendimento odontológico em instituições de ensino. Tendo isso em
vista, o presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a situação dos pacientes do ICT
UNESP, investigando se seus tratamentos foram continuados ou iniciados durante o
período restritivo e, em sua percepção, quais os impactos sentidos. Material e
Métodos: Utilizou-se um questionário composto por 15 perguntas híbridas. As
perguntas abordaram temas como a condição em que o tratamento se encontrava, a
necessidade de novos atendimentos e urgências e autopercepção de saúde bucal.
Oitenta e dois pacientes foram submetidos ao questionário durante seus retornos ao
Instituto, e as informações obtidas foram computadas para análise estatística de
dados, utilizando-se o método descritivo. Dividiu-se em dois grupos: 1) Em
atendimento antes de março de 2020 e 2) Em fila de espera antes de março de
2020. Resultados: Observou-se que a maioria dos entrevistados (84% no grupo 1 e
82% no grupo 2) não buscou alternativas para seus tratamentos, optando por
aguardar o retorno dos atendimentos no Instituto. 36% dos entrevistados relataram
ter aguardado os atendimentos da instituição por motivos financeiros, em ambos os
grupos. Sobre sua percepção de saúde bucal, a maioria (81% no grupo 1 e 87% no
grupo 2) relatou prejuízos aos tratamentos e às condições bucais. Conclusão:
Conclui-se que as restrições de atendimento odontológico na instituição resultaram,
na percepção dos pacientes, em prejuízos aos seus tratamentos e seu estado de
saúde bucal.
With the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, it became necessary to adopt measures to combat the spread of the virus. Among them, the suspension of dental care in educational institutions was highlighted. With that in mind, the present study aimed to evaluate the situation of patients at ICT UNESP, investigating whether their treatments were continued or initiated during the restrictive period and, in their perception, what impacts were felt. Material and Methods: A questionnaire composed of 15 hybrid questions was used. The questions addressed topics such as the condition in which the treatment was, the need for new appointments and emergencies, and self-perception of oral health. Eighty-two patients were submitted to the questionnaire during their returns to the Institute, and the obtained information was computed for statistical analysis, using the descriptive method. The patients were divided into two groups: 1) In treatment before March 2020 and 2) In the waiting list before March 2020. Results: It was observed that the majority of the interviewees (84% in group 1 and 82% in group 2) did not seek alternatives for their treatments, opting to wait for the resumption of care at the Institute. 36% of the interviewees reported waiting for care from the institution due to financial reasons, in both groups. Regarding their perception of oral health, most of them (81% in group 1 and 87% in group 2) reported damage to their treatments and oral conditions. Conclusion: It was concluded that the restrictions on dental care at the institution resulted, in the patients' perception, in damage to their treatments and their oral health.
