Resumo
O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a eficácia da LILT em 30 pacientes portadores de dor e disfunção mandibular a partir da realização de um estudo aleatório do tipo duplo-cego. A amostra, dividida em um grupo experimental (1) e um grupo controle (2) foi submetida ao tratamento com laser infravermelho (780 nm, 30 mW, 10 seg., 6,3 J/cmø) em três pontos próximos à ATM comprometida. A efetividade do tratamento foi avaliada ao longo de 6 sessões e após 15, 30 e 60 dias do fim da terapia, a partir da utilização da EAV, da amplitude de movimentos mandibulares e do limiar de dor à pressão da ATM. Os resultados mostraram redução na EAV, melhora na abertura bucal, lateralidade direita e protrusão, e ausência de diferença estatisticamente significante com relação ao limiar de dor à pressão entre o grupo 1 e o grupo 2 ao final do período experimental. Concluiu-se que houve um efeito do laser sobre a dor e a disfunção mandibular, porém, que não pôde ser estabelecido de forma final e conclusiva. Desse modo, sugerimos a continuidade dos estudos nessa área, para se tentar definir com maior precisão o efeito de diferentes dosagens, números e tempos de aplicação da terapia a laser, bem como o efeito da interação do uso desta com outras modalidades de tratamento.
The objective of this study went evaluate to effectiveness of the LILT in 30 patient carriers pain and mandibular dysfunction starting from the accomplishment of an aleatory study of the double-blind type. The sample, divided in an experimental group (1) and a group control (2) was submitted to the treatment with infrared laser (780 nm, 30 mW, 10 seg., 6,3 J/cmø) in close three points to committed TMJ. The treatment was evaluated along 6 sessions and after 15, 30 and 60 days of the end of the therapy, starting from the use of the VAS, width of mandibular movements and pain threshold to the pressure of TMJ. The results showed reduction in VAS, it improves in the mouth opening, right excursion and protrusion, and absence of difference significant with relationship to the pain threshold to the pressure between the group 1 and the group 2 at the end of the experimental period. It was ended that there was an effect of the laser on the pain and the mandibular dysfunction, even so, could not be established in a final and conclusive way. We suggested the continuity of the studies in that area, for to try to define with larger precision the effect of different doses, numbers and times of application of the therapy to laser, as well as the effect of the interaction of the use of this with other treatment modalities.
