A desmaterialização do espaço: um estudo das interfaces entre a produção ficcional e as teorias da pós-modernidade

Abstract

A partir da segunda década do século vinte, a experiência do tempo e da subjetividade cedeu lugar à experiência pós-moderna do espaço. A aplicação das teorias pós-modernas ao estudo da apreensão, organização e representação do espaço produziu uma nova maneira de pensar a espacialidade da experiência e da prática cultural como espaços múltiplos e heterogêneos capazes de se sobrepor ou se justapor em um único lugar. O objetivo deste trabalho é fazer uma discussão teórica sobre os efeitos da tecnologia na representação do espaço urbano na cultura e na arte contemporânea, estabelecendo como eixo central da tese uma comparação entre características da ficção na modernidade e na pós-modernidade, com base num corpus constituído por diferentes gêneros (poesia, conto, romance e filmes). Procuro mostrar como a geografia pós-moderna implodiu modelos estabelecidos sobre formas mais rígidas de se conceber o espaço e possibilitou a construção de modelos que possibilitem uma forma de pensar que julga ser primordial estudar as reações e respostas do sujeito individual, com todas as suas especificidades de classe, raça, gênero etc., aos estímulos desse novo espaço, que é o espaço do mundo pós-industrial e urbano

From the second half of the twentieth century on, the experience of time and subjectivity gave way to the postmodern experience of space. The application of postmodern theories to the study of apprehension, organization and representation of space produced a new way of thinking about the spatiality of experience and cultural practice as multiple and heterogeneous spaces which can be overlayed or are juxtaposed in one place. The objective is to make a theoretical discussion about the effects of technology in the representation of urban space in culture and contemporary art, setting as the core of the thesis a comparison among the characteristics of fiction in modernity and postmodernity, based on a corpus composed of different genres (poetry, short story, novel and film). I try to show how the postmodern geography imploded established models on more rigid forms of conceiving space and enabled the construction of models that make possible a way of thinking that considers the importance of studying the reactions and responses of individual subjects, with all its specificities of class, race, gender, etc., to stimuli of this new space, which is the space of urban and post-industrial world
