Na porção ocidental do estado do Rio de Janeiro, junto a porção sudeste do estado de Minas Gerais, são observados longos traçados impressos no relevo local, indicando a presença de estruturas com orientação discordante ao trend preferencial da porção central da Faixa Ribeira. O objetivo do trabalho resume-se a análise estrutural de estruturas rúpteis identificadas em uma área inserida entre os municípios de Passa Vinte - MG e Volta Redonda - RJ, com base na identificação da orientação principal dos planos de falhas identificadas no local; bem como pela determinação do respectivo sentido de movimentação associada. Como resultados, foram obtidos diagramas de rosetas gerados a partir da análise de lineamentos estruturais identificados em imagens SRTM 30m, assim como lineamentos presentes nas redes de drenagem local. Observou-se um padrão bimodal de estruturas com direção NE-SW e NW-SE, sendo a primeira o resultado de reativações de antigas zonas de fraqueza do embasamento pré-cambriano e, a segunda, resultante da deformação neotectônica atuante na área ao longo do cenozoico. Os dados de falhas e juntas mostram uma gama de orientações e características cinemáticas distintas, onde se destacam, por exemplo, falhas normais oblíquas, com movimentação sinistral e orientação ao longo da direção WNW-ESE,; falhas normais de orientação NE-SW identificadas nos sedimentos cenozoicos e embasamento cristalino; foi identificado também a presença de falhas transcorrentes segundo as direções NW-SE e N-S. Os dados obtidos apontam para importantes ativações neotectônicas na área durante o Cenozoico, estruturas de direção NW-SE e N-S mostraram-se responsáveis pela compartimentação da sedimentação Cenozoica nas Bacias de Resende e Volta Redonda.

In the western portion of the state of Rio de Janeiro, along the southeastern portion of the state of Minas Gerais, long traces printed in the local relief are observed, indicating the presence of structures with a discordant orientation to the preferential trend of the central portion of the Ribeira Belt. The objective of this work was the structural analysis of brittle structures identified in an area inserted between the municipalities of Passa Vinte - MG and Volta Redonda - RJ, based on the identification of the main orientation of the fault plane identified on the spot; as well as determining the respective direction of associated movement. Ás a result, rosette diagrams were obtained, created from the analysis of structural lincaments identified in SRTM 30m images, as well as lineaments present in the local fluvial network. À bimodal pattern of structures with NE-SW and NW-SE direction was observed, the first being the result of reactivations of old areas of weakness in the Precambrian bedrock and the second, resulting from the neotectonic deformation acting in the area along the cenozoic. The faults and joints data show a range of distinct kinematic orientations and characteristics and some of them stand out, for example, normal oblique faults with sinistral movement and orientation along the WNW-ESE direction; normal NE-SW orientation faults identified in the cenozoic sediments and crystalline bedrock. The presence of strik-slip faults was also identified according to the NW-SE and N-S directions. The data obtained point to important neotectonic activations in the area during the Cenozoic; NW-SE and N-S direction structures were responsible for the compartmentalization of the Cenozoic sedimentation in the Resende and Volta Redonda Basins.
