dc.description.abstractThe Franco-Prussian War has left deep traces in the history of the French, who had their homeland invaded, bombed, humiliated and tortured. The conflict occurred from 1870 to 1871, although short, caused many deaths and much destruction. Guy de Maupassant took part in the war when he was young and about ten years later produces several narratives related to the historic moment of which he was also part. In his short stories of war, the historical memory is present and sustains the whole narrative; we reflected, therefore, in this work, the question of the testimony without an "i-witness". The author who has seen and experienced the catastrophe of war also offers his rightful testimony, even if it is masked by his images and comparisons. We try to prove that the testimony from the fiction can also be authentic, since, according to Seligmann-Silva and Octavio Paz, all truth is historical, all literature is testimonial and every testimony has the maximum credit of truth. For that, we count on the support of some theories already known, such as the analysis and the theoretical study of the work of Seligmann-Silva, such as those present in History, Memory and Literature: The testimony in the era of catastrophes, among others.en
dc.description.abstractA Guerra franco-prussiana deixou traços profundos na história dos franceses, que por sua vez, tiveram sua pátria invadida, bombardeada, humilhada e atormentada. O conflito ocorrido de 1870 a 1871, apesar de curto, acarretou muitas mortes e muita destruição. Guy de Maupassant participou da guerra quando jovem e cerca de dez anos mais tarde produz diversas narrativas relacionadas ao momento histórico de que também fez parte. Em seus contos de guerra, a memória histórica se faz presente e sustenta toda a narrativa; refletimos, pois, neste trabalho, a questão do testemunho sem a figura de um “eutestemunha”. O autor que viu e viveu a catástrofe da guerra também oferece seu testemunho legítimo, ainda que seja encoberto por suas imagens e comparações. Buscamos provar que o testemunho a partir da ficção também pode ser autêntico, uma vez que, segundo Seligmann-Silva e Octavio Paz, toda verdade é histórica, toda literatura é testemunhal e todo testemunho tem o crédito máximo da verdade. Para tanto, contamos com o apoio de algumas teorias já conhecidas, como a análise e o aprofundamento teórico dos trabalhos de Seligmann-Silva, tais como aqueles presentes em História, Memória e Literatura: O testemunho na era das catástrofes entre outros.pt
