Resumo
This article aims to reflect on the career path of a woman, a professional who started her educational career as a teacher at a rural school and is currently the headmaster of a settlement school. The semi- structured interview and content analysis were used. The interview analysis evidenced her professional profile, her experiences at the countryside school and the linkage between being a woman and being a teacher. We found out that many challenges need to be overcome to achieve a public school of quality that will understand its specific characteristics, such as rural education, and that will cherish its professionals, particularly the woman, as this article emphasizes. It is necessary to have dreams, to search utopia, knowing and understanding the current challenges, but especially to have hope and to fight for an education of quality and a more just and democratic society.
