This study determined the life cycle parameters and predation potential of Selenophorus seriatoporus Putzeys (Coleoptera: Carabidae) on different substrates to examine its suitability for biological control. The mean developmental period of S. seriatoporus ranged from 43.0 to 52.2 days at 26 ± 1°C. On soil, this carabid showed faster development, lower mortality, and greater longevity. Development was slower on vermiculite and paper; however, these substrates were suitable for developing eggs and first and second instars. Selenophorus seriatoporus completed its life cycle by preying on larvae of Tenebrio molitor Linnaeus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), and adults showed higher preference for T. molitor larvae than for pupae. Third instars and adults of S. seriatoporus demonstrated high predation potential, showing their suitability as biological control agents.en
