THE EXPANSION OF EUCALYPTUS CULTIVATION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BRASILANDIA/MS BETWEEN THE YEARS OF 2000 AND 2014

Abstract

The present research has as main objective, to analyze the expansion of the eucalyptus crop in the city of Brasilandia/MS between the years of 2000 and 2014. For that, the GISs of ArcGis 10 and Spring 5.2.6 were used, that helped in the organization of the bank of geographic data and, consequently, in the later mappings of land use and land cover. In Spring 5.2.6 the segmentation and classification of the satellite images was carried out and in ArcGis 10 the conference was realized with the reality shown in the images, as well as in field outputs. The results pointed to an increase in the areas cultivated by eucalyptus, especially in the vicinity of the highways, thus pointing to a trend that facilitates the cutting of the plots, pest control and, mainly, transporting the eucalyptus until reaching Fibria/MS Celulose Ltda.; located in the municipality to the north, Tres Lagoas. On the other hand, it was demonstrated the reduction of the forest areas, as well as the pastures, that have been modified, either by exposed soil or the own production of eucalyptus. Concluding that the form of realization of the classifications, they managed to reach the objective of this research, demonstrating the growing eucalyptus expansion.
