Nesta tese conciliou-se os caracteres morfológicos e químicos do sistema reprodutor masculino, incluindo espermatóforos, espermatozoides, fluido seminal e também os caracteres do sistema reprodutor feminino (tipo de receptáculo seminal, armazenamento espermático e estratégia de cópula) em Portunoidea, que integrados a filogenia molecular permitiram contar brevemente a história da recuperação do caráter ancestral com base no que se conhece mundialmente. Os resultados deste trabalho foram eficazes na recuperação do estado ancestral de caráter e conseguiram corroborar e solucionar em partes as controvérsias existentes na classificação dos Portunoidea, dado a importância do entendimento da relação entre os padrões morfológicos e evolutivos desta superfamília. Esta tese é o ponto inicial para a elucidação dos diferentes padrões de acasalamento, deiscência dos espermatóforos e cópula em Portunoidea. Ainda, são necessários diferentes gêneros desta superfamília, que não foram estudados sobre este ponto de vista para finalizar a história evolutiva do sistema reprodutor dentro deste importante clado de Brachyura.

In this thesis, the morphological and chemical characters of the male reproductive system were reconciled, including spermatophores, spermatozoa, seminal fluid and also the characters of the female reproductive system (type of seminal receptacle, sperm storage and copulation strategy) in Portunoidea, which integrated the phylogeny molecular analysis allowed us to briefly tell the story of the recovery of the ancestral character based on what is known worldwide. The results of this work were effective in recovering the ancestral state of character and managed to corroborate and partly solve the existing controversies in the classification of the Portunoidea, given the importance of understanding the relationship between the morphological and evolutionary patterns of this superfamily. This thesis is the starting point for the elucidation of different mating patterns, spermatophore dehiscence and copulation in Portunoidea. Still, different genera of this superfamily, which have not been studied from this point of view, are needed to finalize the evolutionary history of the reproductive system within this important clade of Brachyura.
