Resumo
Constata-se que hoje já existe um número relevante de publicações sobre a produção de literatura infantil da escritora Sylvia Orthof (1932-1997). São estudos que trazem valiosas contribuições quanto à influência dessa literatura infantil no processo de formação de leitores, principalmente pelo fato de os títulos infantis da autora se destacarem por sua originalidade em relação à tradição da categoria, por sua poeticidade e pelo largo emprego do humor, tudo mesclado a recursos artísticos imbricados a elementos da pintura, da música e do teatro. No entanto, observamos que, em meio a esse consistente cenário de investigações valorizadoras da produção infantil da escritora, sua produção juvenil ainda foi muito pouco estudada e muito menos do ponto de vista da especificidade dessa modalidade de narrativas. Assim este trabalho tem por objetivo central preencher essa lacuna, analisando particularmente, em meio à vasta produção da autora, o corpus de obras que têm circulado no mercado como literatura juvenil. Na tese é apresentada uma breve introdução a respeito da natureza da literatura juvenil, com base nas pesquisas de autores como João Luís Ceccantini (2000) e Maria Madalena M. C. T. da Silva (2012). Segue-se o levantamento do estado da questão sobre a obra de Sylvia Orthof, sendo analisadas 8 resenhas, 13 dissertações, uma tese, 27 capítulos de livros, 24 artigos científicos e 20 ensaios publicados sobre a produção literária da escritora, produzidos por amplo leque de pesquisadores da área. O objeto central da tese é constituído por um corpus de 9 títulos de literatura juvenil publicados por Sylvia Orthof de 1987 a 1997. A análise do corpus vale-se particularmente do conceito de metaficção, difundido por autores como Patricia Waugh em Metafiction: the Theory and Practice of Self-Conscious Fiction (1984); Linda Hutcheon em The Poetics of Postmodernism: History, Theory, Fiction (1988); e Mark Currie em Metafiction (1995). O corpus de nove títulos juvenis da autora foi submetido a uma “grade-modelo” desenvolvida por Ceccantini (2000), buscando-se explorar o caráter metaficcional dessas narrativas, sempre imbricado a outros aspectos temático-formais comuns às obras, tudo confluindo para sublinhar a boa qualidade estética do conjunto da produção juvenil de Sylvia Orthof.
Today there is already a relevant number of publications on the production of children's literature by the writer Sylvia Orthof (19321997). These are studies that provide valuable information regarding the contribution of children's literature in the reader formation process, mainly because the author's titles for children their originali stand out for ty in relation to the genre's tradition, for their poetics and for the wide use of humor, all mixed with artistic resources intertwined with elements of painting, music and theater. However, we observe that, in the midst of this consistent scenario of inve stigations, which production for the highlights the writer's production of children's literature, her young adult has still been very little studied and much less from the point of view of the specificity of this type of narrative. Thus, the main objective of this study is to fill this gap, analyzing particularly, amidst the vast production of the author, the corpus of works that have circulated in the market as young adult literature. The thesis presents a brief introduction about the nature of young adult literature, based on the research of authors such as João Luís Ceccantini (2000) and Maria Madalena M. C. T. da Silva (2012). This is followed by a survey of the current status of studies on the work of Sylvia Orthof, which analyzed 8 reviews, 13 disserta tions, a thesis, 27 book chapters, 24 scientific articles and 20 published essays on the writer's literary production, produced by a wide range of researchers in the field. The main object of the thesis is a corpus of 9 titles of young adult literature pub lished by Sylvia Orthof from 1987 to 1997. The analysis of the corpus makes use particularly of the concept of metafiction, spread by authors such as Patricia Waugh in Metafichion: the Theory and Practice of Self Hutcheon in Conciencious Fiction (1984); Linda The Poetics of Postmodernism: History, Theory, Fiction Mark Currie in Metafiction (1995.) (1988); and The aforementioned corpus was submitted to a model grid developed by Ceccantini (2000), seeking to explore the metafictional attributes of these narra tives, always connected with other thematicformal aspects common to the works, all converging to underline the good aesthetic quality of Sylvia Orthof's young adult production as a whole.
