Resumo

The work aims to present a standardization of an examination focused on the method of determining body composition using deuterium oxide (D2O), with a detailed study on error, aiming to identify areas where error can be maximized. This error can be found in the formulas either theoretically or in practice, by observing the preparation of the Offered Dose (OD), Diluted Dose (DD), individual doses (ID), test application, sample preparation for analysis, and isotopic analysis. Determining body composition is an important tool for assessing the health and physical performance of individuals, with various formulas used to estimate the percentage of body fat, muscle mass, and other relevant components. However, standardization for such determination is of utmost importance as it establishes a model to be followed, tested, and accepted, with the purpose of using and even improving it in future studies on body composition. Furthermore, since multiple formulas are used throughout the determination process, studying the errors and limitations is of great interest, as the standardized test highlights important points to minimize the margin of error in the established procedure, providing better precision for the obtained results. Moreover, it is expected that this publication will contribute to understanding the errors to be considered, allowing for the development of a precise and reliable method, with significant implications for the field of health.
