Abstract

The present work is an analysis of F. Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece, The great Gatsby, in a socio historical perspective, in other words, to show the novel as a portrait of a time, the 20's, the Jazz Age, USA golden age. Faced with this, the monograph has the objective of analyzing the narrator, the characters and the themes employed in the novel, such as corruption, betrayal, hedonism and the materiality a mythic concept known as The American Dream

O presente trabalho visa abordar o principal romance de F. Scott Fitzgerald, O grande Gatsby numa perspectiva sócio histórica, ou seja, colocando o romance como retrato de uma época, os anos 20 durante a era do Jazz, anos áureos estadunidenses. Diante disso, a monografia tem o objetivo de desenvolver através do narrador, dos personagens e das temáticas abordadas pelo romance, como a corrupção, a traição, o hedonismo e a materialidade, o ideal mítico conhecido como sonho americano
