Visões em fúria: a construção das narrativas históricas fílmicas em Fúria de Titãs (1981 e 2010)

Abstract

Diversos filmes narram de certa forma o passado, criando dessa maneira uma narrativa histórica fílmica. Contudo, alguns filmes não possuem essa intenção na esfera criativa, mas, em seus discursos há a presença de diversos elementos que levam a uma interpretação histórica por parte dos espectadores. Essa dissertação resulta na investigação de como os filmes homônimos, Fúria de Titãs, cujo original foi lançado em 1981 e o remake em 2010, promovem uma narrativa histórica através dos aspectos monumental, antiquário e ético-crítico proposto por Nietzsche e aplicado ao cinema épico por Deleuze e Burgoyne. A especificidade da fonte e simultaneamente objeto da investigação, compreendida como imagem-movimento pela teoria-metodologia de Metz, exige que a fonte seja encarada no interior do campo que a constitui: o campo cinematográfico. Por isso, desenvolveu-se estudos na confluência da história do cinema, do cinema na história e da história no cinema. Com o contexto da indústria de Hollywood nos anos 70-80 e 2000 e a localização dos filmes no interior do gênero épico, constitui-se o campo cinematográfico da história do cinema. Já no entendimento do cinema na história percebe-se, através da teoria de Barthes, a constituição de uma linguagem mítica com os mitos hoje e, por fim, a história no cinema se realiza através da narrativa histórica fílmica com os aspectos monumental, antiquário e ético-crítico.

Many films narrate the past in some way, thus creating a historical film narrative. However, some films do not have this intention in the creative sphere, but in their discourses there are the presence of several elements that lead to a historical interpretation by part of the spectators. This master thesis results in the investigation of how the homonymous films, Clash of the Titans, which the original was released in 1981 and the remake in 2010, promote a historical narrative through the monumental, the antiquarian and the critical-ethical aspects proposed by Nietzsche and applied to epic cinema by Deleuze and Burgoyne. The specificity of the source and simultaneously the object of the investigation, understood as movement-image by Metz's theory-methodology, requires that the source is seen within the field that constitutes it: the cinematographic field. For this reason, studies were developed at the confluence of cinema history, cinema in history and history in cinema. With the context of the Hollywood industry in the 70-80s and 2000s and the location of films within the epic genre, the cinematographic field of cinema history is constituted. In the understanding of cinema in history, through the theory of Barthes, it is possible to perceive the constitution of a mythical language with myths today, and, finally, history in cinema takes place through historical film narrative with the monumental, the antiquarian and the critical-ethical.
