A Covid-19 é uma doença infecciosa causada pelo coronavírus da síndrome respiratória aguda grave (SARS-CoV) 2. Esse vírus tem efeitos potencialmente graves em seres humanos e é altamente transmissível. Os sintomas clássicos da doença estão relacionados ao sistema respiratório, mas sintomas de diferentes naturezas são relatados. Seu impacto nos sistemas auditivo e vestibular ainda é pouco conhecido, no entanto, estão sendo investigados uma possível relação, direta ou indireta, entre a doença e o sistema audiovestibular. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar as queixas audiovestibulares de adultos após infecção por SARS-CoV-2 e, de forma complementar caracterizá-las. Trata-se de um estudo observacional descritivo, realizado com a população de uma universidade da grande São Paulo. Inicialmente 47 indivíduos que testaram positivo no teste RT-qPCR para detecção de SARS-CoV-2 foram convidados a participar. No entanto, 15 indivíduos foram excluídos por não atenderem aos critérios propostos, desta forma a amostra foi composta por 32 indivíduos, de ambos os sexos, com idade variando entre 20 e 57 anos. Neste estudo foram aplicados os seguintes procedimentos: entrevista fonoaudiológica e o Tinnitus Handicap Inventory. Todas as respostas referentes à história clínica, dados de saúde e informações sobre as queixas durante e após a infecção e imunização contra Covid-19 foram analisadas e se observou que 53,1% dos indivíduos relataram algum sintoma auditivo e/ou vestibular após a infecção, sendo que os sintomas mais frequentes foram zumbido (47%), plenitude auricular (41%) e tontura (41%). A análise dos escores do THI, dos participantes com zumbido evidenciou maior ocorrência de zumbido grau leve. A maioria da população estudada apresentou queixas audiovestibulares após infecção por covid.

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) 2. This virus has potentially serious effects on humans and is highly transmissible. The classic symptoms of the disease are related to the respiratory system, but symptoms of different natures are reported. Its impact on the auditory and vestibular systems is still little known, however, a possible relationship, direct or indirect, between the disease and the audiovestibular system is being investigated. The objective of this study was to investigate the audiovestibular complaints of adults after SARS-CoV-2 infection and, in a complementary way, characterize them. This is a descriptive observational study, carried out with the population of a university in greater São Paulo. Initially, 47 individuals who tested positive in the RT-qPCR test for SARS-CoV-2 detection were invited to participate. However, 15 individuals were excluded because they did not meet the proposed criteria, thus the sample was composed of 32 individuals, of both sexes, with ages ranging between 20 and 57 years. In this study, the following procedures were applied: speech therapy interview and the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory. All responses regarding clinical history, health data and information about complaints during and after infection and immunization against Covid-19 were analyzed and it was observed that 53.1% of individuals reported some auditory and/or vestibular symptoms after infection , with the most frequent symptoms being tinnitus (47%), ear fullness (41%) and dizziness (41%). The analysis of the THI scores of participants with tinnitus showed a greater occurrence of mild tinnitus. The majority of the studied population presented audiovestibular complaints after covid infection.
