A estruturação urbana da Alta Sorocabana: Assis e Ourinhos

Abstract

Este trabalho propõe-se a estudar os municípios de Assis e Ourinhos (SP), especialmente na compreensão de sua gênese, pela ótica da história urbana e do Arquiteto e Urbanista. Foram expostos os principais agentes envolvidos nesse processo que, atrelado a diversas características socioterritoriais e acima de tudo políticas, favoreceram a ocupação de terras na região e posteriormente a implantação das cidades. Vale ressaltar que a Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana (EFS) foi um agente de estruturação desses municípios no início do século XX, além de responsável por moldar seu desenho urbano e desdobramentos. A ferrovia começa a ser construída em meados de 1860 em Sorocaba (SP) e lança seus trilhos para o extremo oeste paulista no início da década de 1910. Seu traçado teve influência direta dos grandes latifundiários que detinham controle de vastas fazendas na área e conseguiam informações privilegiadas a respeito da construção de estações ferroviárias na zona que receberia a denominação de Alta Sorocabana. O objetivo era o de lotear terras próximas à futura estação e lucrar com o valor dos terrenos urbanos e rurais. A metodologia adotada se mostrou útil na sistematização, catalogação e tratamento de documentos, mapas e demais arquivos que possam ser úteis para a pesquisa. Por meio desse estudo foi possível obter respostas para algumas inquietações que foram surgindo, como estabelecer o grau de influência dessa elite política local nas legislações e seus desdobramentos no tecido urbano, evidenciando outros fatores que foram tão relevantes quando a EFS na estruturação das cidades, elencando que cada município teve um período distinto no fornecimento de infraestrutura urbana e como seu traçado foi influenciado pela topografia, mesmo localizando-se geograficamente próximas.

This work proposes to study the cities of Assis and Ourinhos (SP), especially in the understanding of its genesis, from the perspective of urban history and of the Architect and Urbanist. The main agents involved in this process were exposed, which, linked to various socio-territorial and above all political characteristics, favored the occupation of land in the region and later the implementation of cities. It is worth mentioning that the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana (EFS) was a structuring agent for these municipalities in the early 20th century, in addition to being responsible for shaping their urban design and developments. The railroad began to be built in the mid-1860s in Sorocaba (SP) and launched its tracks to the extreme west of São Paulo in the early 1910s. privileged positions regarding the construction of railway stations in the area that would receive the name of Alta Sorocabana. The objective was to subdivide land near the future station and profit from the value of urban and rural land. The adopted methodology proves to be useful in the systematization, cataloging and treatment of documents, maps and other files that may be useful for research. Through this study, it was possible to obtain answers to some concerns that emerged, such as establishing the degree of influence of this local political elite on legislation and its developments in the urban fabric, highlighting other factors that were as relevant as the EFS in the structuring of cities, listing that each municipality had a distinct period in the provision of urban infrastructure and how its layout was influenced by topography, even being geographically close
