Abstract (english)
This work constitutes the repertoire research of vocal music of the W orld W ar One, aiming to understand its relation to production enviroment, aesthetics and choice of texts within the given context. Based on the concept of Sound Symbol (SCHAFER) and ideas related to the song (RIDLEY) the Content Analysis Method (BARDIN) was adopted to gather, select and infer the material related to the production condition of the material. It was possivel to observe contrasts between French and English composers, indicating the revanchism as a major cause of these differences. Among the many composers, Holst showed the most significant works for analysis and in The Dir ge for T wo V eterans (1914), Hymn of Jesus (1917) and Ode to Death (1919) it is possible to chronologically observe the clearances of martial elements in his compositions and reinforced approach to the English tradition through nationalism, whose icon in this context is Purcell

O presente trabalho constitui pesquisa de repertório da música vocal que faz referência a Primeira Guerra Mundial visando compreender a relação de sua produção, estética e escolha de textos com o contexto dado. Partindo do conceito de Símbolo Sonoro (SCHAFER) e de ideias vinculadas a canção (RIDLEY) foi adotado o método de Análise de Conteúdo (BARDIN) para reunir, selecionar e inferir a relação do material com a condição de produção do mesmo. Apontaramse contrastes entre a situação de compositores Franceses e Ingleses, indicando o revanchismo como causa pivô destas diferenças. Entre os diversos compositores levantados Holst apresentou as obras mais significativas para análise: em A Dir ge for T wo V eterans (1914), Hymn of Jesus (1917) e Ode to Death (1919) é possível observar cronologicamente o afastamento de elementos marciais em suas composições e a aproximação reforçada com a tradição inglesa por meio do nacionalismo, cujo ícone, nesse contexto, é a figura de Purcell
