A Leitura Documentária é a ação que busca identificar os conceitos de um recurso informacional tratado, por intermédio de um indexador. A leitura profissional constrói a interação entre o leitor/indexador e o conteúdo em questão, utilizando estratégias cognitivas e metacognitivas, e é influenciada por fatores socioculturais. Esses elementos resultam na construção de representações consistentes de documentos de diferentes tipologias, como o objeto museológico, direcionadas a partir das etapas de identificação e seleção de conceitos. Baseada na necessidade em aprimorar o processo de descrição física e temática de acervos museológicos, o problema desta investigação se relacionaà ausência de modelo de leitura documentária para capacitação de profissionais na indexação padronizada de documentos museológicos em diferentes instituições, visto que o objeto museológico se trata de um documento não verbal. Como objetivo, a presente pesquisa busca realizar um estudo teórico e metodológico sobre a Leitura Documentária e suas variáveis, com o intuito de identificar esses componentes na prática museológica e nos instrumentos de pesquisa, a fim de colaborar para recuperação da informação por parte dos usuários. Para isso, buscou-se utilizar como proposição metodológica a abordagem bibliográfica, por meio do Mapeamento Sistemático de Literatura, a fim de identificar discussões relacionadas da leitura e observação de itens museológicos. Fez-se também uso da abordagem descritiva, a qual foi aplicada a técnica introspectiva do Protocolo Verbal Individual (PVI) junto a museólogos, com intuito de identificar estratégias de leitura e interpretação. Os resultados indicaram que a aplicação do PVI revelou aspectos importantes sobre a indexação de objetos museológicos. Inicialmente, os profissionais abordam a leitura dos artefatos focando em suas características físicas gerais e estrutura, observando também detalhes como marcas, formas e inscrições na superfície para começar a interpretar a função e significado do artefato. No mapeamento sistemático, denotou-se o avanço de pesquisas que abordam os fundamentos da leitura no contexto museológicos, bem como os desafios e estratégias para a observação e interpretação de artefatos. Por conseguinte, foi elaborado um modelo de leitura de itens museológicos que objetiva orientar os indexadores para a identificação e seleção de conceitos, sendo dividido em eixos de exploração estrutural, análise contextual/funcional e interpretação simbólicas. Em conclusão, a pesquisa estabeleceu um panorama de discussão sobre a leitura profissional e os direcionamentos para a observação dos itens no campo museal, alinhando-se aos objetivos propostos.

Documentary Reading is the action that seeks to identify the concepts of an information resource treated, through an indexer. Professional reading builds the interaction between the reader/indexer and the content in question, using cognitive and metacognitive strategies, and is influenced by sociocultural factors. These elements result in the construction of consistent representations of documents of different typologies, such as the museum object, directed from the stages of identification and selection of concepts. Based on the need to improve the process of physical and thematic description of museum collections, the problem of this investigation is related to the lack of a documentary reading model for training professionals in the standardized indexing of museum documents in different institutions, since the museum object is a non-verbal document. As an objective, the present research seeks to carry out a theoretical and methodological study on Documentary Reading and its variables, with the aim of identifying these components in museum practice and research instruments, in order to collaborate in the retrieval of information by users. To this end, the bibliographic approach was used as a methodological proposition, through Systematic Literature Mapping, in order to identify discussions related to the reading and observation of museum items. The descriptive approach was also used, in which the introspective technique of the Individual Verbal Protocol (IVP) was applied to museologists, in order to identify reading and interpretation strategies. The results indicated that the application of the IVP revealed important aspects about the indexing of museum objects. Initially, professionals approach the reading of artifacts focusing on their general physical characteristics and structure, also observing details such as marks, shapes and inscriptions on the surface to begin to interpret the function and meaning of the artifact. In the systematic mapping, the advancement of research that addresses the foundations of reading in the museum context was noted, as well as the challenges and strategies for the observation and interpretation of artifacts. Therefore, a model for reading museum items was developed that aims to guide indexers in identifying and selecting concepts, divided into axes of structural exploration, contextual/functional analysis and symbolic interpretation. In conclusion, the research established an overview of discussion on professional reading and the guidelines for observing items in the museum field, in line with the proposed objectives.
