A ordem dos autores como um indicador de produtividade relativa em coautorias: uma aplicação no Journal of Informetrics

Abstract

O interesse na produtividade dos autores e as questões éticas relativas à coautoria e à ordem dos autores em publicações científicas têm ocasionado a proposição de diretrizes e normas atinentes ao campo disciplinar quanto o comportamento ético no processo de atribuição de autoria. Pensando nisso, esta tese objetiva avaliar a plausibilidade do estabelecimento da ordem dos autores em artigos em coautoria como um indicador da produtividade relativa dos autores no campo dos Estudos Métricos da Informação. Para tanto, analisa a participação de cada autor no desenvolvimento do artigo por meio dos formulários de contribuição preenchidos por autores no momento da submissão do artigo, identifica o índice de acoplamento de autores citados no artigo analisado em relação a produção científica de cada autor por tipo de autoria e posição na linha de autoria, e apresenta a percepção dos autores quanto a ordem e a função de cada autor (primeiro autor, autor do meio, último autor e autor correspondente) no desenvolvimento do artigo. Identifica que a contribuição relativa dos autores é representada pela posição em que eles são listados na linha de autoria, em ordem descrescente. Na mesma perspectiva identifica que o primeiro autor listado é aquele com o maior índice de acoplamento entre as demais posições na linha de autoria e que não há diferença estatisticamente significante entre o índice de acoplamento do primeiro e do segundo autor em caso de autorias duplas. E, identifica, ainda, que autores que participaram desta pesquisa tendem a considerar que os autores exercem diferentes funções no desenvolvimento de pesquisas coautoradas, sendo essas funções associadas à sua posição na linha de autoria. Considera que o primeiro autor tende a ser o principal autor do trabalho, e o último autor o orientador e supervisor do estudo. Os autores intermediários são aqueles que fazem contribuições menores no desenvolvimento da pesquisa. Conclui a ordem dos autores representa a intensidade da contribuição quantitativa e qualitativa no desenvolvimento da pesquisa, a relevância de cada participação expressa na ordem em que os autores são listados.

The authors productivity interest and the ethical issues related to co-authorship and the order of authors in scientific publications have led to the proposal of guidelines and norms pertaining to the disciplinary field regarding ethical behavior in authorship attribution process. With this in mind, this dissertarion aims to evaluate the plausibility of establishing the order of authors in co-authored articles as an indicator of the relative productivity of researchers from Metric Information Studies field. Therefore, it analyzes the participation of each author in the development of the article through the contribution forms filled out by authors at the time of submission of the article, identifies the bibliographic coupling index of cited authors in the analyzed article in relation to each author's scientific production by the type of authorship and position in the byline, and presents the perception of the authors regarding the order and function of each author (first author, middle author, last author and corresponding author) in the development of articles. It identifies that the relative contribution of the authors is represented by the position in which they are listed in the byline, in descending order. In the same perspective, it identifies that the first author is the one with the highest bibliographic coupling index among the other positions in byline and there is no statistically significant difference between the bibliographic coupling index of the first and the second author in case of double authorship. And, it also identifies that the authors who participated in this research tend to consider that the authors have different functions in the development of co-authored research, these functions being associated with their position in the byline. It considers that the first author tends to be the main researcher, and the last author the advisor and supervisor of the research. Meddle authors are those who make minor contributions to the development of research. It concludes the order of the authors represents the intensity of quantitative and qualitative contribution in the development of the article, the relevance of each participation expressed in the order in which the authors are listed.
