Magnificação do sistema Galilean e a acuidade visual de estudantes de Odontologia

Abstract

Este estudo teve como objetivo observar a acuidade visual e a distância de trabalho adotada por de estudantes de Odontologia com o uso de diferentes níveis de magnificação das lupas Galilean. Participaram do estudo alunos da graduação de Odontologia da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araraquara do 2º ao 5º ano (N=200). As variáveis dependentes foram a distância entre os olhos do operador e a boca do manequim e a acuidade visual. A variável independente foi o sistema de magnificação usado em cinco níveis (olho nu, simulador de lupas Galilean sem ampliação e lupas Galilean com 2,5x, 3,0x e 3,5x de aumento) e a seriação do curso. A acuidade visual foi medida através de uma tabela de E-optotipos que estavam localizados em cavidades Classe I de molares superiores. Após a verificação dos pressupostos de normalidade e esfericidade foi feita a Análise de Variância mista com nível de significância de 5%. Foi possível observar significância estatística na interação entre os fatores “sistema de magnificação” e “seriação” para a acuidade visual (p<0,001). Verifica-se que para o 2º, 4º e 5º anos não houve diferença significativa na acuidade visual entre o olho nu e os diferentes níveis de magnificação do sistema Galilean, as quais foram superiores e significativamente diferentes do simulador. Para a distância de trabalho foi possível observar significância estatística na interação entre os fatores “sistema de magnificação” e “seriação” (p=0,008). Verifica-se que para o 3º, 4º e 5º anos não houve diferença significativa na distância de trabalho entre o olho nu e os diferentes níveis de magnificação do sistema Galilean, as quais foram superiores e significativamente diferentes do simulador. Por meio da metodologia aplicada podese concluir que os diferentes níveis de magnificação do sistema Galilean não influenciaram a acuidade visual e a distância olhos do operador e boca do manequim dos estudantes avaliados.

Thist study aimed to observe the visual acuity of dental students in function of the use of different levels of magnification of the Galilean loupes and the working distance adopted. Undergraduate students from 2nd to 5th year participated in this study (N=200). The dependent variables were the visual acuity and the distance between the operator's eyes/mouth of the mannequin. The independent variable were the magnification system at 5 levels (naked eye, Galilean loupe simulator device without magnification, Galilean loupe with 2.5x, 3.0x and 3.5x magnification) and the year of the course (“seriation”). Visual acuity was measured through a table of E-optotypes located in Class I cavities’ preparations on upper molars. After checking the assumptions of normality and sphericity, the mixed Analysis of Variance was performed (α=5%). It was possible to observe statistical significance in the interaction between the factors “magnification system” and “seriation” for visual acuity (p<0.001). It appears that for the 2nd, 4th and 5th years there was no significant difference in visual acuity between the naked eye and the different magnification levels of the Galilean system, which were superior and significantly different from the simulator. For the working distance, it was possible to observe statistical significance in the interaction between the factors “magnification system” and “seriation” (p=0.008). It is verified that for the 3rd, 4th and 5th years there was no significant difference in the working distance between the naked eye and the different levels of magnification of the Galilean system, which were superior and significantly different from the simulator. Through the applied methodology, it can be concluded that the different levels of magnification of the Galilean system did not influence the visual acuity and the distance between the eyes of the operator and the mouth of the dummy of the evaluated students.
