In this work we study some issues about the quantum deformation of conformal field theories. We discuss, after a self-contained review of the classical aspects, the properties of primary fields in a q-deformed theory. Two unequivaient constructions of the q-Virasoro algebra, one in terms of bosonic fields, and the other in terms of free fermionic fields, are considered in detail. We also study the characterization of the conformal spin in the q-deformed bosonic conformal field theory in two dimensions. We also propose a q-deformed analogue of the Energy-Momentum tensor in the Sugawara construction, as well as we construct a q-deformation of the A/’ = 2 superconformal algebra by taking as a starting point the vertex operators realization for the quantum affine algebra Uq{sl[2)). Extending to other simply laced algebras, we find the q-deformed Energy-Momentum tensor in the Sugawara form associated to the algebra Ug{sl{N + 1)). Finally, we construct a new q-Virasoro algebra by imposing constraints on the currents associated to the algebra Ug{sl{2)) and by using the Dirac bracket method. This procedure is inspired on the hamiltonian reduction of the WZNW model, which consists in the reduction of degrees of freedom in the action by imposing constraints on Noether currents. In the hamiltonian reduction process, one obtains extended conformal algebras (W algebras) from the Kac-Moody algebra of the currents
