Ecos do naturalismo no projeto literário de Luiz Ruffato: uma análise de Eles eram muitos cavalos (2001)

Abstract

Esta pesquisa faz uma análise da obra Eles eram muitos cavalos, de Luiz Ruffato, buscando classificar os fluxos de consciência que constituem o livro, e o papel do autor para sua realização. A análise das micro-narrativas que formam os fragmentos, e da obra como unidade, é complementada com a teoria de entre-lugar, de Homi Bhabha, revelando as fraturas sociais que afligem São Paulo no dia 9 de maio de 2000. Paralelamente são feitas comparações com duas outras obras: Dublinenses, de James Joyce, e Zero, de Ignácio de Loyola Brandão. Num segundo momento, as fraturas sociais reveladas por Eles eram muitos cavalos são associadas com as três fases Naturalistas da literatura brasileira, tais quais expostas por Flora Sussekind, com acréscimo de análises de Silviano Santiago e Antonio Candido. Algumas das características levantadas do Naturalismo, e do livro, expressam o sentido de “ecos” dado na relação entre o movimento e a obra.

This research makes an analysis of the work They were many horses, by Luiz Ruffato, seeking to classify the streams of conscience that constitute the book, and the paper of the author for its realiation. The analysis of the micro-narratives that arrange the fragments, and of the work as a unit, is complemented by Homi Bhabha's theory of in-between spaces, revealing the social fractures afflicting São Paulo on May 9, 2000. Parallel comparisons with two other books: Dubliners, by James Joyce, and Zero, by Ignacio de Loyola Brandão. In a second moment the social fractures revealed by They were many horses are associated with the three Naturalist phases of Brazilian literature, such as those exposed by Flora Sussekind, with the addition of analyzes by Silviano Santiago and Antonio Candido. Some of the raised features of Naturalism, and the book, express the sense of "echoes" given in the relationship between movement and the novel.
