Resumo
Ser mulher, em determinados contextos, garante um cenário repleto de opressões e exclusões, inclusive no campo político formal. No campo da historiografia quando possuímos representações sobre as mulheres, essas são criadas, na maioria das vezes, pelo gênero oposto, o masculino. Suetônio - em sua obra “A Vida dos Doze Césares”, composta no ano 121 d.C., durante o governo do imperador Adriano - ao descrever Agripina Menor, deixa claro o peso do aspecto simbólico que a dominação masculina carrega ao questionar a moral de uma mulher que exerceu papéis considerados masculinos dentro da política. Para compreender essa relação de dominação masculina sobre o feminino - construída histórica, cultural e linguisticamente – é preciso definir a submissão imposta às mulheres como uma violência simbólica. Assim, pautado na análise da fonte textual e na história de gênero, a dissertação de mestrado objetiva compreender a atuação feminina na política no período da dinastia Júlio Claudiana, a partir da problematização da relação entre o feminino e o masculino.
Being a woman, in certain contexts, guarantees a scenario full of oppression and exclusion, including in the formal political field. In the field of historiography, when we have representations about women, they are created, most of the time, by the opposite gender, the male. Suetonius - in his work "Lives of the Caesars", composed in the year 121 AD, during the rule of Emperor Hadrian - when describing Agrippina the Younger, makes clear the weight of the symbolic aspect that male domination carries when questioning a woman's morals who played roles considered masculine within politics. To understand this relationship of male domination over the female - constructed historically, culturally and linguistically - it is necessary to define the submission imposed on women as symbolic violence. Thus, based on the analysis of the textual source and on the history of gender, the master's thesis aims to understand the role of women in politics in the period of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, based on the problematization of the relationship between the female and the male.
