Este trabalho pretende interpretar o conceito de espírito livre em Nietzsche a partir da obra Humano, Demasiado Humano I tendo em vista a noção de cultura e sua importância, de forma a distinguir o espírito livre e o espírito cativo. Nosso problema de pesquisa encontra-se em investigar a relação entre o espírito livre e o gênio, com a seguinte indagação: é possível afirmar que o espírito livre é uma continuidade do gênio, e se sim, de que forma essa continuidade se demonstra? Ao apontar suas características, devem ser apresentadas suas distinções e semelhanças e de que forma a cultura se mostra relevante para seu aparecimento e quais as razões dela se colocar como fundamento para explicação destes conceitos. Como hipótese para este trabalho, apontamos que a ideia de espírito livre na cultura moderna é uma continuidade da ideia de gênio da cultura antiga, tendo em vista o papel exercido pela cultura na formação desses tipos humanos superiores ao dar seguimento enquanto natureza das suas características em se tratando de autodeterminação e singularidade, ao mesmo tempo que deixa pra trás o caráter mítico da cultura antiga. Elege-se o problema da cultura como o fundamento para que se explicite as noções de espírito livre, de gênio e de espírito cativo.

This work intends to interpret the concept of free spirit in Nietzsche from the work Human, Too Human I, in view of the notion of culture and its importance, in order to distinguish the free spirit and the captive spirit. The research problem lies in investigating the relationship between the free spirit and the genius, with the following question: is it possible to say that the free spirit is a continuity of the genius, and if so, how is this continuity demonstrated? When pointing out its characteristics, its distinctions and similarities must be presented and in what way the culture is relevant to its appearance and what are the reasons for it to be placed as a basis for the explanation of these concepts. As a hypothesis for this work, it is pointed out that the idea of free spirit in modern culture is a continuation of the idea of genius of ancient culture, in view of the role played by culture in the formation of these superior human types by continuing as the nature of their characteristics when it comes to self-determination and uniqueness, while leaving behind the mythical character of ancient culture. The problem of culture is chosen as the basis for explaining the notions of free spirit, genius and captive spirit.
