Resumo
A Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba da Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, FOA/UNESP, quando considerada sob a ótica da relação entre os Campi e os grandes centros urbanos, vivencia o paradigma do distanciamento físico, com todas as implicações sociais decorrentes. No entanto, nos seus 61 anos de existência, o Campus da UNESP de Araçatuba foi absorvido pela malha da alta noroeste paulista, incorporando valores e costumes regionais, moduladores do seu contexto universitário e do perfil profissional do cirurgião-dentista formado pela instituição. O propósito do presente trabalho foi levantar as influencias culturais da FOA/Unesp sobre o perfil do acadêmico do Curso Integral da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, FOA/UNESP. Para tanto, realizou-se estudo do tipo transversal, o qual permite estudar a situação de exposição e efeito de uma população em um único momento. Participaram deste estudo 339 universitários de 17 a 35 anos de idade, regularmente matriculados no Curso Integral da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba, UNESP. Os acadêmicos foram contatados pessoalmente e leram o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido. Aqueles que aceitaram participar voluntariamente do estudo preencheram e assinaram o documento. A coleta de dados foi feita de fevereiro a abril de 2018. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que, no que diz respeito à escolha da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba para o curso superior, a maioria dos alunos questionados (85,51% ) não sofreu influência da família, professores e amigos. Em relação ao acolhimento e integração ao contexto universitário a maioria (86,45%) vivenciou uma experiência positiva. Os fatores de desigualdade social (etnia, religião e distribuição de renda) interferiram na vida acadêmica de 53,68% dos alunos. Dentre os estudantes questionados, 77,87% se declararam brancos, 10,32% pardos, 9,31% amarelos e 2,5% se declararam negros. Os vínculos sociais com servidores (docentes e técnico-administrativos) e discentes foram referenciados por 78,27,%. Quando questionados sobre a influência do contexto universitário na autonomia da aprendizagem, na administração do tempo e na definição de metas, 74,31% se percebem modificados pelo curso. 94,40% dos alunos entrevistados atribuem grande importância ao papel da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba, UNESP na formação de cidadãos, responsáveis social e profissionalmente. Com relação aos projetos após a conclusão do curso, a quase metade (42,48%) deseja se dedicar à clínica particular, enquanto 8,84% planejam seguir a carreira acadêmica e 28,61% pretendem se tornar assalariados em empresas odontológicas privadas; cerca de um quinto dos estudantes (20,07%) não tinham metas estabelecidas. Com relação ao contato com condições sociais diferentes da familiar, 68,66% responderam afirmativamente. Finalmente, quando interrogados sobre as dificuldades na aquisição de instrumentais/materiais de consumo, bem como habitação/alimentação e transporte, 66,66% dos acadêmicos tiveram dificuldades. Os estudantes do último ano do curso (54,05%) estimaram um gasto médio entre R$10.000,00 a R$15.000,00 na aquisição de material/instrumental. No quesito habitação/alimentação/transporte 36,36% apontaram gastos entre R$600,00 e R$1.000,00 e outros 36,36% despesas entre R$1.500,00 a RS2.000,00. Com base na metodologia empregada e nos resultados obtidos concluiu-se que o contexto universitário da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba, UNESP, a despeito das dificuldades econômicas enfrentadas por mais da metade dos estudantes, tem papel importante no processo de adaptação e desenvolvimento profissional e social do acadêmico.
The São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Dentistry, Araçatuba, FOA /UNESP when considered from the point of view of the relationship between the Campi and the great urban centers, the institution experiences the paradigm of physical detachment, with all the resulting social implications . However, in its 61 years of existence, the UNESP Campus of Araçatuba was absorbed by the high northwest of São Paulo, incorporating regional values and customs, modulating its university context and the professional profile of the dental surgeon formed by the institution. The purpose of the present study was to raise the cultural influences of FOA / Unesp on the academic profile of the Integral Course of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Dentistry, Araçatuba, FOA/UNESP. For that, a cross-sectional study was carried out, which allows the study of the exposure situation and effect of a population in a single moment. 339 university students aged between 17 and 35, regularly enrolled in the Integral Course of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Dentistry, Araçatuba participated in this study. The academics were contacted in person and read the Free and Informed Consent Form. Those who agreed to voluntarily participate in the study completed and signed the document. Data collection was done from February to April 2018. The results showed that, with regard to the choice of São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Dentistry, Araçatuba, FOA/UNESP for higher education, the majority of the questioned students (85.51%) were not influenced by family, teachers and friends. In relation to the reception and integration to the university context the majority (86.45%) experienced a positive experience. The factors of social inequality (ethnicity, religion and income distribution) interfered in the academic life of 53.68% of the students. Among the students questioned, 77.87% declared themselves white, 10.32% brown, 9.31% yellow and 2.5% declared themselves black. The social ties with servers (teachers and technical-administrative) and students were referenced by 78.27,%. When questioned about the influence of the university context in the autonomy of learning, in the administration of time and in the definition of goals, 74.31% if perceived modified by the course. 94.40% of the interviewed students attach great importance to the role of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Dentistry, Araçatuba, FOA/UNESP. in the training of citizens, socially and professionally responsible. Regarding the projects after completion of the course, almost half (42.48%) wish to dedicate themselves to the private clinic, while 8.84% plan to pursue the academic career and 28.61% intend to become employees in private dental companies; about one-fifth of the students (20.07%) had no established goals.
