Entre o novo e o velho: diálogos da intervenção contemporânea no patrimônio industrial da I.R.F. Matarazzo em Presidente Prudente

A salvaguarda do patrimônio industrial recai sobre as intervenções realizadas para a preservação de seus valores. Dentre os muitos projetos arquitetônicos elaborados para intervenções em conjuntos industriais, elegemos como objeto de estudo deste trabalho aquele realizado nas antigas instalações das Indústrias Reunidas Francisco Matarazzo – I.R.F. Matarazzo S/S da cidade de Presidente Prudente -SP, construção que até então se encontrava degradada pela ação do tempo e do homem; realizada no ano de 2006, após quase trinta anos do complexo industrial estar em desuso, a intervenção assinada pela arquiteta Iara Valim da Rocha foi dirigida pela Prefeitura Municipal da cidade. A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo propor um método dialógico – relação do objeto de estudo com o seu contexto histórico e urbano – para avaliar se as intervenções contemporâneas realizadas num determinado complexo industrial paulista levaram à preservação dos seus valores históricos, artísticos e científico ou à respectiva perda de todos eles. Para fundamentar a aplicação do método dialógico na avaliação da intervenção realizada na edificação participante do patrimônio industrial escolheu-se como bibliografia as obras de Josef Muntañola, Mikhail Bakthin e Paul Ricouer, e as teorias de restauro de Alois Riegl, Camillo Boito, Cesare Brandi e Gustavo Giovannoni, referências que se relacionam aos objetos de estudo em seus contextos histórico, urbano, social, ambiental e legal particulares. Como resultados, verificou-se que parte dos valores foram preservados pela intervenção contemporânea realizada na I.R.F. Matarazzo S/S de Presidente Prudente. Neste sentido os valores históricos, simbólico e memorial permaneceram vivos nos usuários; os valores artísticos como características formais, fachadas foram preservadas, mas outros elementos participantes desses como a troca das esquadrias e a construção do novo edifício, não consideraram as recomendações; e os valores científicos, configurados nas recomendações teóricas, não foram atendidos.

The safeguarding of industrial heritage falls on the interventions carried out to preserve its values. Among the many architectural projects developed for interventions in industrial complexes, we chose as the object of study of this work the one carried out in the former facilities of the Indústrias Reunidas Francisco Matarazzo – I.R.F. Matarazzo S/S from the city of Presidente Prudente -SP, construction that until then was degraded by the action of time and man; carried out in 2006, after almost thirty years of the industrial complex being in disuse, the intervention signed by the architect Iara Valim da Rocha was directed by the City Hall of the city. The present research aims to propose a dialogical method – the relationship between the object of study and its historical and urban context – to assess whether the contemporary interventions carried out in a particular industrial complex in São Paulo led to the preservation of its historical, artistic and scientific values or to the respective loss of them all. In order to support the application of the dialogic method in the evaluation of the intervention carried out in the participating construction of the industrial heritage, the works of Josef Muntañola, Mikhail Bakthin and Paul Ricouer were chosen as bibliography, and the restoration theories of Alois Riegl, Camillo Boito, Cesare Brandi and Gustavo Giovannoni, references that relate to the objects of study in their particular historical, urban, social, environmental and legal contexts. As a result, it was found that part of the values were preserved by the contemporary intervention carried out in the I.R.F. Matarazzo S/S of Presidente Prudente. In this sense, the historical, symbolic and memorial values remained alive in the users; artistic values such as formal characteristics, facades were preserved, but other elements participating in these, such as the exchange of frames and the construction of the new building, did not consider the recommendations; and the scientific values, configured in the theoretical recommendations, were not met.
