As páginas de Rubem Braga na revista Manchete (1953-1957)

Abstract

O principal objetivo deste trabalho consiste em abordar de modo analítico-interpretativo os textos verbais e não-verbais inseridos na seção que Rubem Braga (1913-1990) manteve na revista Manchete (1952-2000) durante os anos de 1953 a 1957. Para tanto, buscamos retomar as fontes primárias e, assim, promovemos o levantamento, a indexação e a análise crítica. O trabalho teve o intuito de estudar e evidenciar o modo como as produções textuais que compõem o corpus dialogam entre si na coluna de Braga e constroem um sentido único ao leitor. Constatamos que tais produções, além de retratarem determinado período da história do Brasil, exercem um papel fundamental, pois desnudam e possibilitam compreender mais intimamente os aspectos sociais, culturais, políticos e intelectuais que nortearam o cronista capixaba durante a segunda metade do século XX. Esta tese também contribui para evidenciar outras facetas de Rubem Braga,visto não apenas como cronista, função com a qual alcançou sucesso de público e crítica, mas também no exercício do ofício de redator, colunista de hebdomadário, comentarista e importante intelectual da sociedade brasileira.

The main objective of this study is to investigatein an analytic-interpretative way the verbal and non-verbal texts inserted in the section that Rubem Braga (1913-1990) kept in Manchete magazine (1952-2000) from 1953 to 1957. For this purpose, we sought to resume reading the primary sources and, thus, promote data collection, indexing and critical analysis. The aim of this research was to study and highlight how the textual productions that make up the corpus interact with each other in the column of Braga and construct a unique meaning for the reader. We have found that such productions, in addition to portraying a certain period of the Brazilian history, play a fundamental role, since they unravel and make it possible to understand more closely the social, cultural, political and intellectual aspects that guided the chronicler from Espírito Santo State during the second half of the twentieth century. This thesis also contributes to pointout other facets of Rubem Braga, seen not only as a chronicler, a role in which he achieved success with the public and critics, but also as editor, weekly columnist, commentator and important intellectual of the Brazilian society
